Apporto announced on 15 July 2024, the day Lab Services stopped taking new customers, that Microsoft had named it a preferred partner for the transition. Its prices below are from apporto.com, checked on 30 September 2026. Check with Apporto before you decide.
Price
| Apporto Basics | Apporto fully managed | Hyperamplify Labs | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you pay | $12 per named user per month, you pay Azure | $27 to $101 per concurrent user per month, compute included | $0.50 per Ubuntu hour, $0.75 per Windows hour, $49 a month minimum |
| 50 students, 10 hours a week, 4 weeks | $600 plus your Azure bill | $1,350 to $5,050 if all 50 are concurrent all month | about $1,050 on Ubuntu, $1,575 on Windows |
Apporto's managed price is per concurrent user, so the real total depends on how many students are on at once. Ask them to price your actual peak.
A different kind of product
Apporto is a virtual desktop and virtual application platform: students reach desktops and applications in the browser. Hyperamplify Labs is narrower. It gives each student their own lab machine for a class, with the controls a term needs, and nothing else.
Where Apporto is the better choice
- You want virtual desktops or applications across the college, not only classroom labs.
- You want to stay on Azure.
Where Hyperamplify Labs is the better choice
- Classroom labs, priced by the hour. You pay for hours that machines run, with no per-user seat for a student who never opens the lab.
- One bill, no cloud account. Basics needs your own Azure subscription. We run the machines and bill you once.
- Built around a term: hours per student with a hard stop, an end date that ends every machine, reset to the image, and shutdown when nobody is using the machine.
The short version
If you are buying virtual desktops for the whole college, Apporto is built for that. If you need classroom labs for a few courses, priced by the hour, get started with Hyperamplify Labs.
